dōTERRA is a company founded in 2008 which sources essential oils products from all over the world, and uses those oils to improve the lives of their of their customers.  Located in Pleasant Grove, Utah, Phase I and II have been recently completed and include 260,000 square feet enclosed in six separate interconnected structures varying from one to four stories. These structures are tied together with a curved circulation spine and shared four story atrium.

The project’s 20-acre site enhances and engages the natural environment. An existing sink hole was improved with water features, re-circulating ponds and native plantings is now classified as a wetlands area, now available for use by all local residents. The site design features hundreds of linear feet of drystack sandstone walls locally sourced from Brown’s Canyon near Kamas Utah. This “plinth wall” separates the pedestrian spaces, which have more formal landscaping than the trails and paths of the wetlands, and also allowed the design team to raise the elevation of the buildings, mitigating the shallow water table and allowing for a sloped auditorium. Water features and plazas are incorporated into the site design between each of the buildings to allow visual connections between the building occupants and the beauties of nature. Additionally, the building is oriented to maximize access to daylight and views to the surrounding mountain vistas, of which the primarily focal point being Mt. Timpanogos.

With a high water table and most of the site being in marshy wetlands, a gridwork of over 500 aggregate piers was used to improve the soils under each of the structural footings.  These piers are 20” in diameter and extend to a depth of 22 feet.

dōTERRA’s original campus is expanded now with a new 67,000 office building which is office space for the International, graphics and video departments. The building is 3 stories and has been under construction since June of 2017 and is scheduled to open in October of 2018.  In addition to office space, meeting rooms, it features a 3 story lobby space to bring daylight deep into the building. For the video department there is a 1,000 square foot studio space and green screen.

One major feature of this building is the childcare facility named “dōTERRA Kids.” It will provide child care services for up to 85 children ranging from 3 months to 5 years. This facility is a commitment from dōTERRA leadership to provide further services and benefits to the employees.  The daycare has an outdoor play area and shade trellis.

The design of the building blends with previous buildings on campus with high efficient glass curtainwalls, sandstone veneer rain screen wall which is quarried in Southern Utah and the famous “halo” screen element on the room which has become a signature design element for all buildings on the main campus.
dōTERRA Operations Building

dōTERRA Operations building is an addition to the existing bottling plant facility which will more than double the manufacturing capacities of dōTERRA by adding an additional 8 bottling lines. It is 120,000 on level 1 for warehouse storage areas and manufacturing spaces. The second level mezzanine is 45,000 square feet of office space and storage.

In addition to expanding the bottling plant dōTERRA will now have capability to receive raw oils from all over the world, to sample, test, and clarify these oils preparing them to be used in the final blending process. The “blending” suite has several rooms for blending together the oils prior to the bottling process, two of these rooms have large 3000-gallon stainless steel mixing tanks that will allow dōTERRA to provide high volume blending for those blends that have high demand. All manufacturing spaces are ISO 100,000 clean rooms and designed to follow TGA guidelines for manufacturing. The building provides office space for 200 employees for the operations and sourcing departments including meeting space, break rooms etc.  Also we are providing a quality control lab of approximately 1,500 square feet where oils will be tested by a third party laboratory for compliance with dōTERRA standards. The building is scheduled to be operational by the end of this year.

- Dietitian & Wellness Services,

The design goal of this clinic was to provide an environment where patients and relatives can receive the best care in a warmth and healing environment.
As Dr. Brannick Riggs (dōTERRA Medical Clinic) always said through the design process: "...we don't want our patients to feel that they are going to a sterile institution; we want our patients to feel that they are at home..."

The exam rooms and consultation rooms were designed to have natural light and pleasant views of the healing landscaped areas surrounding this building.
A centralized nurse station and medical support areas were strategically located in the center of this group in order to provide easier access and fast service to all our patients and physicians.

A wellness office and a dietitian office are also centrally located along with the x-ray room, ultrasound room and a procedure room; all of them easily accessible to our patients.

Employees’ wellness and comfort in this facility was also an important factor during the design process. Advanced medical equipment technology that can facilitate their work was carefully selected; along with comfortable work areas with adjustable height furniture that can meet each employees’ need.
A conference / training room, break room with an outdoor patio for relaxation and group interaction is also included in this building.
